The Office of Graduate Student Professional Enhancement (GSPE) is here to assist graduate students in identifying and developing skills that foster growth and wellbeing and optimize academic, scholarly, pedagogical, and career success. As a centralized resource, we have the unique opportunity to offer a campus point-of-interaction, a place of belonging, apart from yet aligned with departmental academic pursuits, where ideas and professional collaborations take root, and career trajectories launch.
GSPE offers programming and services to complement your degree coursework and support your career pursuits. Below are some of our offerings.
Graduate TAs will find quick links to resources to aid them in their various responsibilities, including campus offices, university policies and regulations, and pedagogy workshops. Also found here is information about TA and International TA Orientations and related activities for new TAs.
Students interested in exploring and preparing for a faculty career will find a wealth of opportunities here, including workshops, coursework, and guidelines for application letters, CVs, and statements of research and teaching philosophy.
The Preparing Future Faculty Program offers a 12-credit-hour certificate curriculum culminating in a college or university teaching practicum.
The Thesis & Dissertation Writing Retreat provides a quiet, supportive environment twice a year for students writing a master's thesis or doctoral dissertation.
