How do I get access to Slate Reader or request additional permissions?

To get Slate access or request additional permissions, please fill out a User Access Request Form. Please allow 1-3 business days for processing. You will receive an email notification once your request has been completed.

What is Slate Reader?

Slate Reader is a tool within Slate used to review and manage applications, particularly for those with faculty or administrative access to read and assess application materials.

How do I access Slate Reader?

To access Slate Reader, log in to your Slate account here: https://apply.gradschool.uky.edu/manage/reader and navigate to the appropriate section where applications are stored. You’ll see the Queue tab, which grants access to the applications assigned to you.

What should I do if I encounter issues with Slate?

If you're having trouble with Slate Reader, try logging out and back in. If the issue persists, please fill out a Support Request Form and a staff member from the graduate school will review your request and contact you shortly.

Is there a mobile version of Slate Reader?

Yes, Slate Reader is accessible via mobile devices, but some features may be limited. For optimal functionality, it’s recommended to use a desktop or laptop.

Will I receive individual notifications when a new application is submitted?

No, faculty members typically receive a weekly summary email about the applications currently in their queue.

Where can I sign up for additional training on Slate Reader?

To sign up for additional training on Slate Reader, visit the Slate Training Portal: https://apply.gradschool.uky.edu/portal/slate_training.

Can I download applications as PDFs?

Yes, the ability for faculty to download applications as PDFs directly from Slate has now been enabled. 

In Slate Reader, open an application, click the Slate ID in the top left corner, and click on “Download PDF."
