Undergraduates with 60 or more earned credit hours and at least 15 hours left in their undergraduate degree, are eligible for the program.
The maximum number of graduate credits an undergraduate can earn at undergraduate tuition prices.
The University of Kentucky’s Accelerated Master’s Pathways (AMP) gives highly motivated students the opportunity to earn both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s or doctoral degree in less time than students not participating in AMP. Qualified students can begin earning graduate credit during their undergraduate programs, allowing them to maximize their time on campus and return on their educational investment – earning up to 12 graduate credit hours at undergraduate tuition prices.

- 3.0 Overall UK GPA
- Must have earned at least 60 credit hours. *Must have at least 15 hours left in undergrad degree
- A selected area of interest
- Must not be exploratory or pre-major
- Meet with your Academic Advisor
- Complete the AMP Intent Form for advisor approval
How AMP Works
Explore & Connect - Explore your interests using the list of eligible programs listed below. Each graduate program lists possible pathways you can take as an undergrad such as suggested majors, minors, and certificates. Meet with your advisor first and connect with the program you are interested in to learn specifics. *Not all programs listed on the contacts page are part of AMP.
Confirm - Submit the online AMP Intent Form when you have earned at least 60 credit hours but still have at least 15 hours left in your undergraduate degree. It will go to your advisor for their approval.
Get AMPed up - Once approved, complete or continue your undergraduate studies in the suggested major/minor/certificate pathway.
Accelerate - As an AMP student, enroll in appropriate graduate courses as an undergraduate, ensuring you discuss options with your advisor and the graduate program along the way.
Apply - Your last semester as an undergraduate, apply to The Graduate School for your program.
Graduate - Move into your graduate program, with up to 12 graduate credits from AMP, as approved/accepted by the graduate program.

Does this mean I'm applying to Graduate School now?
No, AMP Students do not officially apply to The Graduate School (and thus their Graduate Program) until their senior year!
TIPS FOR BECOMING AN AMP STUDENT

Review the undergraduate majors, minors, and certificates listed at the bottom of this page that are pathways that may help you best enter the associated master’s program.

Meet with your advisor and submit the AMP Intent form to request to officially "lock in" your intended pathway and be eligible for graduate courses you take to double count. Advisor endorsement required.

Stay in contact with your undergraduate advisor and your chosen master’s program as you continue your undergraduate studies.

Enroll in courses with the guidance of your target master’s program and your undergraduate advisor.
*IMPORTANT AMP DETAILS

Time to degree completion may vary. AMP allows students to complete both degrees in less time than students not participating in AMP. Additionally, some master's programs are 1 year in length versus 2 years.

Your AMP Intent Form must be approved by your undergraduate advisor in advance, in order to earn graduate credits. The graduate program may accept these credits.

The AMP program can be applicable to online programs.

Inquire about graduate credits applying towards a PhD program.

Graduate credits will only count if the associated graduate program accepts the credits. Graduate advising is strongly encouraged.

Plan carefully. Once you have enrolled in a course for AMP credit, it will count toward your 12-credit limit.

400G to 499G courses will NOT be allowed to count for graduate credit for undergraduate students admitted to the AMP program.
