Thursday, September 20, 2018 - 3:30pm to 5:00pm
Location:
Young Library B108-C

Academic institutions are increasingly interested in how prospective employers will contribute to organizational goals for diversity, equity, and inclusion. As a result, diversity statements are often requested from prospective employees. In this interactive workshop hosted by the College of Arts & Sciences, Drs. Ashley Sorrell (CELT, The Graduate School) and Sarah Lyon (Interim Associate Dean for Graduate Studies in the College of Arts & Sciences, Associate Professor of Anthropology) will use sample diversity statements to help you explore different approaches to developing and writing a diversity statement. Together we will consider the many ways we can help build diverse and inclusive academic communities through our research, teaching, and professional service. Participants will generate ideas for how they might best craft their own effective diversity statement.
